Beginning a career in college or in the working world can be exciting, overwhelming and challenging. Because Academy students come from different areas and diverse backgrounds, we feel that it is important to assist in the transition from secondary education to the next phase of learning for our students.
MGA’s mentoring program is designed to bring alumnae together with current students to share and discuss experiences and requirements in interested fields of choice. Students gain the ability to discuss general questions and concerns about school or a particular profession, intended goals and majors and academic plans.
Regardless of the design of the program, research and student testimonials show that mentoring programs are helpful to both the alumnae and students who participate. Students who have a positive experience with a mentor later volunteer as mentors themselves and report that they received as much, if not more, by serving in such a capacity.
If you are an alumna of Catherine McAuley High School, Cathedral High School or St. Joseph’s Academy and are interested in participating in this program, please contact the Advancement Office at (207) 797-3802 ext. 2018.
